Official EEE Box Press Photos and Specs Hit the Web
As you probably know only too well, the EEE PC from Asus proved to be a huge success, so the company has decided to release a desktop version as well. You’ve been able to read quite a lot about what this thing will be able to provide, but there were relatively few details regarding the colors you’ll be able to choose from. But things have now changed.
Thus, the people over at Eee PC News have managed to get their hands on a pretty interesting gallery of press shots of the new EEE Box, apparently coming from the German branch of the Amazon online store. The pictures indicate the fact that the desktop unit will be available in 4 different colors, namely White Peony, Urban Metropolis (Black), Sweet Pea (Green) and Sakura (Cherry Red), which will most likely satisfy even the tastes of those people looking for style as well as power.
The same photos also provide some pretty interesting details regarding the inside of these little computing boxes. As expected, they’re powered by Intel’s Atom processor (the chipset is also Intel-made), sport 1 GB of memory, an 80 GB 2.5-inch HDD, as well as a card reader.
Moreover, they feature a very interesting boot solution, dubbed ExpressGate, which is supposed to reduce boot times down to 5 seconds.
Connectivity-wise, the EEE Box is equipped with an 802.11 b/g/n WLAN module, as well as 4 USB ports (2 located in the front and 2 in the rear), which will most likely prove quite enough, especially if we are to take into consideration the targeted market segment.
Unfortunately, these photos, albeit quite revealing, still maintain a curtain of mystery regarding two very important issues. Thus, they still don’t provide any info regarding when the EEE Box will arrive and just how expensive this very “petite” system will be.
